Amity University Madhya Pradesh Organizes the Orientation Programme for New Students

Orientation Programme – 2014-15

The campus of Amity University Gwalior came alive as the Orientation Programme for new undergraduate and postgraduate students commenced on 25 August 2014.

The Orientation Programme for the new  students  was of two days duration i,e 25 and 26 Aug 2014. The programme was organized in the University Auditorium. The aim was to familiarize the students with the various rules and regulations of the university and Amity System of Education and to introduce them to their faculty and respective mentors and break the ice between the students.

On August 25, the programme started at 9:30 in the morning with the distribution of welcome kit to the students. It was followed by a Havan, in accordance with our traditions. This was followed by address to parents, students and faculty by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor.

During the orientation programme, the university authorities including the Hon’ble VC, AUMP, Dean (Academics), Registrar, Director Administration, Controller of Examination, Dean Student Welfare and Director,CRC interacted with the students.

Welcoming the students, the Hon’ble ViceChancellor, Lt Gen V K Sharma AVSM (Retd), opined that the orientation programme helps the students in getting to know the rules and regulations ofthe university. Hon’ble VC also briefed the new students on the issues relatedto the code of conduct, state-of-the-art infrastructure, wi-fi enabled campus and hostel, medical facilities, attendance rules, dress code, university timings, mentor- mentee relationship, sports facilities, and about maintaining discipline in the university campus. He also  briefed the students about the new academic block Block ‘C’ that is coming up  for the students and said it has all the state-of-the-art facilities and is centrally air-conditioned.

Talking on Anti-Ragging measures, Dr R. S. Tomar, Chairman, Anti Ragging Committee advised the students to refrain from any kind of ragging activities and also told that the university authorities will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline from the new or the old students.

The Registrar, Director Administration, Controller of Examination and Dean Student Welfare also briefed the students on aspects pertaining to their departments.

On August 26, MBTI test and group activity was held for all the new  the students by ASCENT, ALS and AIBAS. The day also saw the interaction of the new students with the respective HOIs and faculty members.

With due completion of all registrations, the formal conduct of classes has started from August 27, 2014.

Amity Law School Centre II organises Lecture cum Workshop on “Law and legal Profession in Modern Scenario”

The Amity Law School Centre II organized a Guest lecture cum Workshop on “Law and Legal Profession in Modern Scenario” on August 20, 2014.

Prof. Dr. J.L. Kaul, Vice Chancellor, Vikram University, was the Chief Speaker for the session. Advocate R.S. Goswami, Ex- Chairperson and Current Member, Bar Council of India, also spoke on the occasion.

Prof. Kaul encouraged the students to develop entrepreneurship and leadership skills as they embark on a legal career. He emphasized on three important characteristics for people in legal services – Courage, Craft and Conviction. He was hopeful that the country will be able to make the large percentage of youth of this country as its asset and wished the students all good wishes for their future.

Mr. Goswami enlightened the students about the varied career and internship opportunities and admonished them to develop the qualities of sincerity, regularity and punctuality in their lives. Prof. S. K. Singh, Dean, Faculty of Law, also encouraged the students to do analytical and critical research work on various facets of the law citing his own personal experiences.

Independence Day Celebration at Amity University Gwalior

Amity University Gwalior  celebrated the 68th Independence Day at the university campus with great enthusiasm and gaiety. It is a tradition in Amity University, Gwalior to celebrate Independence Day and Republic Day with patriotic fervour. The faculty and students turned up in large numbers and took the pledge on this occasion to uphold the unity and integrity of our great country.
The function started with hoisting of National Flag by the Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh Tomar, Dean (Academics). The faculty members, staff and students gathered in the front of Academic Block 'A' of the University. It was followed by singing of National Anthem and patriotic songs by faculty and students.
The function ends with faculty and students enjoying High Tea served at the occasion.

Amity Institute of Telecom Engineering and Management conducts Orientation Programme for B.Tech – E&T , M.Tech – TSE & OEOC and MBA - Telecom students

Amity Institute of Telecom Engineering and Management conducted an Industry Orientation Program for B.Tech – E&T , M.Tech – TSE & OEOC and MBA - Telecom students on 7th Augsut 2014. A lecture session was organized on the topic – Growth in Telecom and Opportunities for Freshers which was attended by the new entrants and the final year students of all the above streams.

Four Senior Professionals from Industry were invited to present their views on above mentioned topic. The session started by welcoming the panelists followed by a speech by Mr. Sachin Sharma – Head of Talent Acquisition , India & China at Lava International. He represented the Telecom Handset domain and spoke at length on penetration of smart phone devices among enterprise mobile workforce in India which will cross 64% by 2015

 Next speaker of the session was Mr. Sandeep Saxena – Head of Solutions Management at Nokia. Mr. Saxena opined that Growth in telecom industry is a multi-dimensional phenomenon and the students need to develop key competencies and skills to grab the opportunities

 Key competencies the students should acquire are :

  • Strong technical skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Strong business & analytical skills
  • Strong project & program management skills
  • Strong communication skills and
  • Strong inter-personal skills


Third speaker of the session was Mr. Akshay Mathur – Vice President , Non Voice Services , Tata Teleservices Ltd. Mr. Mathur spoke on how telecommunications has taken over our regular day-today activities of our lives. Sectors like Banking , Education, Entertainment, Health Care , Automobile will be hugely dependent on Telecom Engineerins and Management Graduates in times to come. Employability will no more be confined to only Telecom Companies but will extend to all the other sectors as well.    


Lastly Mr. Sekhar Sahay - Director HR Global Services , at Ericsson started his session with  daily usage of  Telecom Services. The increasing usage of digital services influence consumer expectations on future offerings. Connectivity is fully integrated in daily routines. Consumers rely strongly on apps to communicate, find information, socialize, stream videos, listen to music and get news updates and navigate throughout their day. A fact that is relevant for any location, in whatever situation or context in consumers’ lives. New Needs arises and today customers seek :

a)  Instant access everywhere - To suit their on-the-go lifestyles, users expect to have access to an array of services on demand and in real time. They want to be connected around the clock, no matter where they are or what device they use.Busy work/life schedules require instant access without waiting for pages to load or calls to connect.

b)  Customize my world –  Consumers are at a risk of information overload and  relevance has never been more important. People increasingly welcome the idea of getting personalized services  that suit their lifestyles.

c)  Assisted productivity - In a world of meetings, appointments, consumers will look to their digital services to help them manage and coordinate their schedules. Consumers want peace of mind and to free up their time to allow them to concentrate on more important things, safe in the knowledge that they will never forget or miss out

d)  Enhanced togetherness - In their busy lives, friends and family will increasingly rely on technology to keep in touch, wherever they are. Technology-assisted social activities are expected to continue in the future, and people want these services to become more seamlessly embedded into their lives

e)  Consumers in control - Consumers want to be in control of their connected lifestyles, keeping track of spending, data usage and information updates. For instance, consumers will continue to shop and buy online in order to save time hassle and money. Safe payment models as well as to get reassurance that they have the best possible deal, whether shopping from home or using digital services while shopping in a store will be important

f)  Location based me - Consumers express the need of getting information relevant to where they are at the moment. Also, people will look for new opportunities related to what they can “do” with the environments and people around them, such as getting information and interaction

Amity School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences organized a Guest Lecture on “Advances in Practice Teaching in Physical Education” by Prof. A.K. Dutta Former Incharge and Vice Chancellor, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, Gwalior

Prof. Dutta introduced the PEC programme which are currently using in schools. He familiarized audience with the ‘Bhartiyam” Programme which was initially presented in the opening ceremony of 1982 Asian Games and is still used during the opening ceremony of Olympics. Prof. Dutta enlightened students with his rich expertise and experiences in new trends of, which provided opportunity to the students of physical education for their professional development.   He shared various new methods of teaching which aid the physical education professionals to groom school students according to the current requirements of the society. The session was academically enriching and was replete with fun filled activities for teacher trainers.

Prof. (Dr.) Kalpana Sharma, Director-ASPESS emphasized on the significance of teaching practice. She shared live examples from her student life to signify the importance of Teaching Practice, commitment, discipline, leadership, etc which should be learnt while undergoing the professional program.

Amity University Gwalior organized a Seminar on Trends in Design and Development of Fuel Efficient Engines

Amity School of Engineering and Technology of Amity University Madhya Pradesh Located at Gwalior conducted a seminar on “Trends in Design and Development of Fuel Efficient Engines” on 01 August 2014. The seminar started with traditional lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Inaugurating the seminar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt Gen V K Sharma delivered his opening remarks by focusing on the importance of fuel efficient engines and recent trends in the development of fuel efficient engines for automobiles. Dr. C.S. Malvi, Head-Mechanical Engineering, MITS, Gwalior was the Guest of Honour for the seminar. He delivered the keynote address to the participants of the seminar on the use of solar photovoltaic thermal (PVT) systems as an alternate source of energy for future generation engines. Prof. Dershan Lal Sapra, Head-MAE, delivered a talk on Science of Fuel Efficient Engines. He presented the trends in future generation fuel efficient engines.

The students of Second year (III Sem) B.Tech. (MAE) of Amity University Gwalior delivered a number of well-researched presentations on the focus area with sub-themes in Fuel Efficient Engines, Design and Development of Fuel Efficient Engines, Trends in Fuel Efficient Engines, Future of Design and Development of Fuel Efficient Engines . Anupam Mishra, Thejas T.Nair, Dhurv Bhanu Singh, Aviral Giri, Manvendra Singh presented a paper on Fuel Efficient Engines. Tushar Bhardwaj, Sachin Kumar, Abhishek Singh, Lokesh Kumar, Arpan Birtharia presented a paper on Design and Development of Fuel Efficient Engines. Sunny Kumar Singh, Ajay Singh Bhadoriya, Subham Kumar Sharan, Arvind Chakraborty, Prakhar Gupta presented a paper on Trends in Fuel Efficient Engines. Vinay Kumar, Subhash Kumar Singh, Vishwajeet Singh, Jitendra Pratap Singh, Dheeraj Kumar presented a paper on Future of Design and Development of Fuel Efficient Engines. The student presentations were formalized under the active guidance of Prof.D.L. Sapra, Head, MAE and Mr. Ashish Dixit, Asst.Professor, MAE. The programme was hosted by Mr. Deepak Kumar , Ms. Charushi Rupani and Mr. Sonu Pratap Sharma. Participation certificates were distributed to all the speakers of the seminar by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, AU MP, Dr. C S Malvi, Guest of Honour, Dean-Academics and HOI-ASET. The Dean (Academics), Dean (Research), Registrar, Director(Administration), Heads of Institutes, faculty members, staff members and students of the university were present on the occasion. A vote of thanks was proposed by the convener of the programme. The programme was conducted by Prof(Dr.) Bikram K. Bahinipati, Deputy Director and Head of Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh. The event was highlighted by overwhelming participation by students and faculties of Amity University, which was organized in the house-packed auditorium of the university.
